Backcountry.com is dedicated to being the best online retailer of outdoor and backcountry gear on the planet.

backcountryWith hundreds of brands and well over 50,000 products, Backcountry.com offers a wide array of the best made gear including backpacking, camping, skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, kayaking, mountaineering gear and more. If Backcountry’s customers can’t find a piece of gear on Backcountry.com, its likely not a piece of gear that they really need.

The Challenge

In 2008, Backcountry.com had grown to over $100 million in revenues. As they grew, the accounting processes and procedures required for a larger company were not supported with their current small market software, QuickBooks. They needed a mid-market solution which had the flexibility to accommodate their growth. In addition, the solution had to be selected, designed and implemented in 8 weeks.

Today, Backcountry.com continues to grow. In 2013 and 2014 Backcountry acquired two new companies that needed synergistic ERP solutions, consolidated financial reporting, and a single view of all subsidiary activity.

The Solution

Working with Spring2, Backcountry.com selected Microsoft Dynamics GP which could support their new needs, handle explosive growth, and satisfy the requirements of their parent company. Spring2 Technologies provided the expertise and resources to make the quick transition to mid-market ERP system.

Spring2 worked with Backcountry.com personnel to meet the aggressive implementation timeframe. Having worked with many retail and e-Commerce companies, Spring2 brought a detailed understanding of the requirements and reporting needs required by Backcountry.com.

Seven years later, Spring2 continues to assist Backcountry. Microsoft Dynamics GP meets the current accounting needs and gives more flexibility to the processes and procedures now required. Month end closing and reporting is faster and more accurate. The reporting and management tools provided by Microsoft and implemented by Spring2 helped the accounting department save time and more quickly respond to management requests.

In 2013 and 2014 Spring2 implemented GP for two newly acquired companies. As part of the implementations, historical transactions were imported and a consolidated reporting structure was designed and implemented. Additionally Spring2 built key integrations so that Backcountry.com has a single view of subsidiary financial activity and reporting.
